How to Make Your Pumpkins Last Longer
I don’t know about you, but my pumpkins DID NOT do well last year. At on point, I went to move one and the whole bottom fell out on my foot, and it was such a disgusting mess to clean up. This Fall, it’s already been hotter than the hinges of hell in Atlanta, but I want pumpkins because it’s October. And it just doesn’t feel like Fall without pumpkins on my front steps. The best part is I found a trick that works, and I’m so excited to share it because it’s so dang easy.
The Spray I Use on My Pumpkins
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you will know that I love all things THIEVES. It’s a non-toxic cleaner infused with with Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils. This is a powerhouse combo of oils that promote anti-bacterial/anti-fungal environments. I love cleaning my entire home with it and now it’s going to keep my Jack-O-lanterns from rotting. Does it get any better? The is the first year I’m doing this, so I’m excited about having pumpkins to use–hopefully they’ll last until Thanksgiving, unlike last year. I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
How to Use the Spray
The same spray I use on my marble counters is the same spray I’m using on my pumpkins. Thieves is a concentrate and you dilute it in a spray bottle of water depending on how strong you want it. The spray bottle I use on my counters is 16 ounces of water with 1 capful of Thieves. So I grabbed the same spray bottle and sprayed the inside of the pumpkins we carved and on the outside too (do not forget the bottom). The is non-toxic so no need to worry about it being sprayed around children or your pets. I will probably spray every few days just to ensure they stay perfect.
