My 4-day Trip to London with my Daughter!

My 4-day Trip to London with my Daughter!

Guess what? I went back to London. I have said it before and I will say it again, it is my favorite city! My last trip was a very adult-themed and relaxing, and this trip was the total opposite. This special 4-day trip was just for me and my middle daughter for some sweet memories. My brother and his daughter were able to meet us and the girls had a blast doing all the girly things!

The itinerary for this trip was totally kid-centric; I would recommend taking older kids around age 10 so they can handle some later nights and understand the travel requirements. This was my daughter’s first trip to London and we had the best time doing fun things together, my entire family would have loved this 4 day London itinerary, but I’m so happy we got this special time together.

On day one, we landed in the morning and flew overnight from Atlanta. We stayed at the Sofitel St. James in Trafalgar Square which is the epicenter of London. Pro tip – if you are arriving on an early morning flight, reserve your room for the night BEFORE you land. That way your room is immediately ready once you get to the hotel. Trust me – you will thank me for that tip! Once we got settled in the hotel and got refreshed for our day, we headed out to lunch at FEYA Marble Arch – which was so beautiful! This restaurant chain has several locations and this was one of the newer places. After we finished up our lunch we headed over to Piccadilly Circus for my daughter to shop her heart out at the toy store, Hamley’s. That evening we ate dinner at Bardot. St James and enjoyed their pre-theater dinner so we could make to our first show, ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ in the Duchess Theater. This was such a charming play and a perfect first day! I recommend having a busy day when you land in London, the best way to fight jet lag is to acclimate to the local time as quickly as you can!

Our second day started with a late breakfast at 9am in the Dean Street Townhouse, and then a leisurely morning through the Natural History Museum. We wanted to make sure we were ready to hit the museum when they opened so we ate near by. The Victoria & Albert Museum is a short walk from where we were, so we spent some time there too. We hit up Notting Hill and did some shopping at Loveshack Fancy, which, again, the girls were so thrilled to be in such a girly store! We spent a little too long here, so we had an early dinner at San Carlo and changed before we headed over to see our second show, ‘Matilda’ at the Cambridge Theater! This was a long day, so we were ready to get back to our room and have late-night room service. Here is another pro tip – always schedule a reservation for lunch and dinner for each day, even if you have to cancel. We didn’t intend to skip lunch, but every restaurant in Notting Hill had a wait! Believe me when I say I got HANGRY and it was not ideal.

Our last full day in London was a little slower and go with the flow. The girls were fascinated with the London Eye and then we decided on a proper afternoon tea at Brown’s Hotel in the Drawing Room. The girls felt so special and grown up, this was probably my favorite memory of the trip. We wandered around Harrod’s and then got bundled up for our double-decker bus tour of the Christmas light displays in London! This was both a hit and a miss. The girls initially thought the lights were so beautiful but got bored very quickly because it went on a little long. My brother and I enjoyed the break, but I think the girls would have enjoyed a walking tour of the lights better.

We headed home the next day, back to real life and the rest of our family. This short trip was so special for us, I look forward to making more memories with my girls in my favorite city!
