The Easiest Way to Ditch Toxic Bathroom Products

I have finally discovered the EASIEST way to ditch toxic bathroom products for y’all! I have been on a toxin-free journey for the last year, and I have made so much progress. It’s a journey, but I cannot stress to you how important it is to ditch the chemicals and go toxin-free in your home as much as possible. It can be so overwhelming to overhaul everything that you use, but I’m going to break it down for you so that it’s easier and to give you peace of mind 😉

Why You Need to Ditch the Chemicals

Did you know that women apply around 300 chemicals to their bodies every day and typically 100 of those chemicals are before we even eat breakfast? One of the biggest offenders is FRAGRANCE, which is in everything. Fragrance alone can include up to 12,000 chemicals that manufacturers don’t have to disclose because it is proprietary. So, just because you don’t see a certain chemical under ingredients it could still be in there and more than likely it is…just under the guise of fragrance. These ingredients are a “trade secret” and government protected so good luck truly figuring out what your applying to your body over and over again. Fragrance is full of endocrine disruptors. You may have heard that term before, but let me explain to you what that actually does to your body. Endocrine disruptors mutate our DNA and can affect the following: mood, metabolism, sexual development, reproduction, obesity, more insulin, sex hormone disruption, linked to infertility, birth defects, learning disabilities and cancer, etc. If you’re reading this you probably see some symptoms you can identify with, I know I sure did, which is exactly what started my deeper health journey.

Beware of Greenwashing

Before I started digging into ingredients, I was fooled MANY times by products that were guilty of greenwashing. What is greenwashing you ask? Greenwashing is when companies come up with cool marketing ads and labels to make you think they are more natural or greener than they actually are…don’t be fooled! Do you own anything that says non-toxic? Did you know non-toxic is an unregulated term?! It has no legal definition when used on a product label. “Green” and non-toxic household cleaners often contain potentially dangerous chemicals. The other term that gets me going is “Natural.” That means jack-squat once you read the ingredients and fragrance is listed.

My Toxin-Free Solution

We are the gatekeepers of our homes and what we put on our bodies and in our mouths. We have the power to make decisions and feel empowered about our growing knowledge. I am a busy mom of 3 kids, and I do not have the time to read every label and ingredient at Target, Publix or Whole Foods. I’d rather save that time binging Netflix 😉 The answer for me was finding one company that I can buy all of this from. A company I know that makes a great product and looks out for the environment at the same time. I buy 95% of my body products from Young Livingand I could never imagine going back to my old ways. It saves me time and peace of mind knowing that they are helping my family, not slowly hurting them. Remember, using a toxic body wash probably isn’t going to give you cancer over night..but nobody has ever done testing on the chemicals in your toxic body wash mixed with the chemicals in your shampoo mixed with your face cream and toothpaste x 35 years of daily usage. Your skin is the largest organ on your body and whatever you apply to it is absorbed into your blood stream within about 30 seconds. Over years and years of doing this chemical cocktail can leave you with some of the nasty symptoms and issues mentioned above.
