Spring Wardrobe Checklist for 2024

Apr 20

Here is the spring wardrobe checklist to make sure all the bases are covered with versatile pieces to transition into the warmer weather. The truth is, you only need a handful of lightweight sweaters, a good denim jacket, a trench coat, a pair of well-fitting jeans, and a white tee to make a combination of different outfits with minimal effort. The most versatile closet has a good foundation of base colors and touches of accent colors.

This is my favorite season for ecru white jeans, the white button-down shirts, ladylike jackets. My own personal style really thrives here because I’m about the classic while comfortable look. Here are the key pieces to dress up or down into many spring outfits.

The three top layering pieces to have for spring:

– Trench coat, for cold weather mornings.

– Blazer, in a neutral shade. A cream or ecru would my pick. Tweed is one of the best ways to bring texture into a spring look, here is great tweed option with a tailored touch.

– Denim jacket, you can’t go wrong. Here are both cropped and trucker style options.

These are high and low options, some approachable and some are investment pieces. When it comes to capsule wardrobe essentials like jackets, it can be worth the investment because these remain timeless.

These are the tops to cover your bases from carpool to date night. These tops touch on current trends but remain classic. Be mindful of your body type while styling different cut tops. For a chambray shirt, it’s better for hourglasses and rectangles to tuck it in. Puff sleeves aren’t always a win, but I don’t think anyone can go wrong with the Veronica Beard puff sleeve shirt. I buy it in every color, it’s the best thing with a pair a jeans for a casual look.

If you’re not familiar with how to dress your body type, it’s time to break the code and make your personal style more mindless. I have a detailed guide on the do’s and don’t with a spring look book waiting for you.

The spring pants picks for spring:

– Cropped flare jeans

– Staple straight leg jeans

– Crepe trouser, this is a pleated pant and a full length intended to hit the ground. They are tailored-yet relaxed with a high-rise.

– Ecru wide leg jeans, ecru is one of the best neutral colors because they can be worn throughout the year. I’m not at all a stickler about white before Memorial Day, and these are a safe bet.

☐ JEANS and PANTS

Super light wash denim is coming back, but I can’t say I’m really on board. I prefer a mid-wash denim, to me, it looks more put together and transitions more seamlessly through the year.

A sweater doesn’t have to go over a white button-down shirt. To style, drape over your shoulders and hang loose or tie at the chest.

☐ SWEATERS

Layering light weight sweaters is what gets me through the spring in the South. We will have chilly mornings and hot afternoons, and my J Crew sweater lady jacket gets me through.

Are you looking for a new white sneaker for this season? Adidas Sambas have been all the rave, but I personally love these green accent Gazelles. I suspect these will be on the rise this year.

☐ SKIRTS

Truth be told, I find denim skirts hard to love, but this one is everything. The a-line skirt is the most flattering across body types and the tie waist is an added touch.

Satin slip dresses and skirts are one of those transitional pieces that is easy to elevate. This gorgeous pearl color I wore in the cover photos.

All the dresses in the spring wardrobe checklist selects are fit and flare. This silhouette is universally flattering by creating definition in the waist while giving the ebb and flow elsewhere.

I recently picked up the Toteme T-Lock top handle bag in the cream color with silver hardware. This bag is a good everyday size for me while having a sophisticated shape. It has a longer strap, so it can be worn crossbody. I usually wear gold jewelry, but I am starting to mix metals and really enjoy the look.

Slingbacks are IN! And I’m all about it. The perfect spring shoe that’s between a completely closed shoe and a sandal. The style is effortless because they’re both casual and elevated.

You can’t neglect your core accessories. They are the key finishers to your look and your personal style signatures. A pretty watch can make the most subtle difference and add an element of texture depending on the band.
